Michelin’s 120 Years in Italy Celebrated at the Table with “L’Italia nel Piatto”

In 2026, Michelin Italiana celebrates an extraordinary milestone, marking one hundred and twenty years of presence and activity in our country. To honor this deep bond with the territory and pay tribute to national culinary excellence, a special initiative named "L'Italia nel Piatto" (Italy on the Plate) was born. The project aims to enhance the Italian gastronomic tradition, placing it at the center of a virtuous dialogue between historical memory and innovative drive. The absolute protagonists of this journey are the Starred and Bib Gourmand restaurants selected within the MICHELIN Guide Italy 2026, long considered true ambassadors of our culinary culture.
The initiative is designed as an inspiring invitation addressed directly to chefs, who are called upon to express their culinary identity by reinterpreting a traditional Italian dish. The guidelines of this creative challenge are founded on essential pillars: strong territorial roots, respect for seasonality, the superior quality of raw materials, and the predominant use of Italian ingredients. This collective effort takes shape in an exclusive recipe book containing more than two hundred creations, each accompanied by descriptions of the procedures, ingredients, and photographs. The publication of this precious collection takes place in two distinct phases: starting today, the first one hundred and twenty recipes are already available, while the remaining part of the volume will be downloadable for free on the MICHELIN Guide website on August 27th.
In addition to celebrating haute cuisine, this anniversary represents the ideal opportunity to recall the long industrial history that has linked Michelin to Italy since way back in 1906. Over the course of more than a century, the Group has accompanied the evolution of national mobility. Today, the Italian plants represent a global flagship, capable of attracting engineers from all over the world and developing cutting-edge technologies to be exported to other production sites. Currently, Michelin employs around 3,800 people in Italy and confirms its status as the leading tire manufacturer in the country, thanks to the activities of the Cuneo and Alessandria hubs, the central headquarters and logistics facility in Turin, and the commercial management in Milan. Through "L'Italia nel Piatto", the synergy between industrial vision and gastronomic passion is renewed once again, looking ahead with confidence to the challenges of the future.
